Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can 14.5 oz diced tomatoes
  • 1 can 15 oz kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Method
 

  1. In a large pot, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Cook for about 5 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in diced tomatoes, beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 30–40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Adjust seasoning as needed before serving.

Notes

  • For thicker chili, simmer longer uncovered.
  • Add a pinch of cayenne or red pepper flakes for heat.
  • Great for freezing — lasts up to 3 months.
