Southern Candied Yams
These candied yams are one of my favorite Thanksgiving sides. They’re sweet, buttery, and full of warm spices — the kind of comfort food that brings everyone back for seconds. Simple ingredients, big flavor.
Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Arrange sliced yams in a baking dish.
- In a saucepan, melt butter, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir to combine.
- Pour the syrup mixture evenly over the yams.
- Cover tightly with foil and bake 30 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes, basting occasionally until tender and glossy.
- Serve warm with the syrup spooned over the top.
